How to convert WAV to MP3

  1. Add your WAV files. Drag them onto the box above or click to browse. You can add several at once.
  2. Pick a quality. 192 kbps suits most uses; choose 320 kbps for the best quality or 128 kbps for smaller files.
  3. Download. Each MP3 gets its own download button as soon as it’s ready.

What is WAV?

WAV (Waveform Audio File Format) stores uncompressed audio. It’s what most recorders, DAWs and audio interfaces produce, and it sounds perfect — but a three-minute song takes around 30 MB. The same song as a 192 kbps MP3 is about 4 MB, small enough to email, upload or keep hundreds of on your phone.

Tips

WAV to MP3: questions

How much smaller will my MP3 be?

At 192 kbps an MP3 is roughly 1/7 the size of a CD-quality WAV. At 128 kbps it’s about 1/11.

Will I lose quality converting WAV to MP3?

MP3 is a lossy format, so a tiny amount of detail is removed. At 256–320 kbps the result is practically indistinguishable from the original for most listeners.

Can I convert 24-bit or 96 kHz WAV files?

Yes. High-resolution WAV files are converted to standard 44.1 kHz MP3, which every player supports.

Are my files uploaded?

No. Anything to MP3 converts WAV to MP3 inside your browser, so your files never leave your device.
