What is AIFF?
AIFF (Audio Interchange File Format) is Apple’s uncompressed audio format — the Mac equivalent of WAV. Logic Pro, GarageBand and many sample libraries use it. It sounds perfect but files are huge: roughly 10 MB per minute. As MP3, the same audio fits in about 1.4 MB per minute.
Tips
- Sharing a mix for feedback? 192 kbps is a good balance of quality and size.
- The .aif and .aifc extensions work too.
- Some browsers need to download our converter engine (about 30 MB) once to read AIFF files.
