How to convert FLAC to MP3
- Add your FLAC files. Drag them onto the box above or click to browse. You can add several at once.
- Pick a quality. 192 kbps suits most uses; choose 320 kbps for the best quality or 128 kbps for smaller files.
- Download. Each MP3 gets its own download button as soon as it’s ready.
What is FLAC?
FLAC (Free Lossless Audio Codec) compresses audio without losing any quality, which makes it a favourite for music collections and downloads from Bandcamp or Qobuz. The catch: many car stereos, older iPods, some smart speakers and plenty of apps can’t play it. Converting to MP3 gives you a copy that works on anything and takes about half the space.
Tips
- Choose 320 kbps to keep as much of FLAC’s quality as possible.
- Converting a whole album? Select all the tracks at once — they convert one after another.
- Keep your FLAC files as your master copies and use the MP3s on devices with limited storage.
FLAC to MP3: questions
Is FLAC better than MP3?
FLAC keeps every bit of the original audio, while MP3 removes some detail to save space. For everyday listening, a 320 kbps MP3 sounds virtually the same and plays on far more devices.
Will my album artwork and tags be kept?
Not currently — the MP3 contains the audio only. You can add tags afterwards with a free tag editor such as Mp3tag.
Can I convert a whole FLAC album at once?
Yes. Drop all the files in together and each one gets its own download button when it’s ready.
Are my files uploaded?
No. Anything to MP3 converts FLAC to MP3 inside your browser, so your files never leave your device.
